Lifetime Of Tortured Normalcy

Xquisite has experienced a rise in requests for resources from survivors experiencing severe long-term trauma. The survivors we have seen in the last few days have exhibited extreme paranoia, multiple personalities, and dissociative behaviors. When someone experiences sexual trauma this severe, compassion must be extended as we navigate the best resources to offer. These survivors do not trust anyone since everyone who should have been safe exploited them and placed them in violent sexual circumstances from toddler age until now in the 30’s. We consider it an honor when we can sit and hear their story, and most importantly believe the story that they entrusted to us so they don’t feel alone.

We are realizing survivors are coming to us with desperate hope for someone to help. It is heartbreaking to hear them begin by saying “You are going to think this story is crazy”. Stories that include everything from: taking them to a prison nurse for healthcare that they do not even understand so no one would question what has happened; being assaulted by therapists; being sold to numerous buyers; to being taken overseas and sold. Most of these transactions occurred by the mother, father, grandparents and extended family members. Trauma so severe that they have become incontinent, had forced abortions, and experienced disease all during the age of toddler to adolescent ages.

The fact that society might stigmatize a story as “crazy” because we have not experienced it…that is what is crazy! However, it is their reality.

We are working with survivors right now whose stories just might feel unreal or crazy. But, it is real! And seriously, the degree of torture and long-term abuse from being sold repeatedly should never be anything anyone should experience as a lifetime of tortured normalcy from traffickers and abusers. This increase of survivors coming to us has caused me to shift and refine our focus and explore the best care we may be able to provide.

Xquisite is prioritizing youth services too. The trauma our youth are being exposed to via the internet and bullying is increasing. Consider this information just released from the National Center On Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE):

“Here’s a statistic that will make your jaw drop:

Thirty-five to sixty-five percent of people known to have committed sexual offenses against minors were juveniles themselves.

Child-on-child harmful sexual behavior is a reality that many don’t like to talk about—but it’s crucial we do.

In today’s digital world, hardcore, violent pornography is widely available with the click of a few buttons. And for children, it’s almost inevitable that they will encounter it at some point, whether it’s on purpose or by accident. When children consume pornography, much of which is violent and degrading, this effectively serves as a script for sexual violence.

In fact, children who are exposed to pornography are 3.3x more likely to commit sexual offenses against other children. When children are exposed to violent pornography, they are 5x more likely to exhibit sexually aggressive behavior.

This is why we must implement robust age verification laws, to help keep kids off pornography sites.”

As school begins, we will be focusing on investing in the future. The future of our youth. We will be designing a curriculum for middle school youth to give them tools for self-compassion and esteem, and the importance of healthy choices for their future. And we will work to integrate this program into our middle schools.

Considering the “65% of juveniles commit sexual offenses on other juveniles” and the increase in requests from survivors we are serving who have been sexually assaulted and abused for years, we have escalated our efforts to have a determined focus to bring awareness and education campaigns.

We will provide trauma-informed and compassionate care for the survivors who are bravely sharing their truth of what they have endured. We will be a force that will make a difference for the next generation and the survivors who are suffering in silence and want someone to hear their voice and believe their story without the risk of being judged crazy or unbelievable.

This is what is emerging here at Xquisite. We will not stand back and do nothing. We will step into the dark messy world of exploitation and extend unconditional love to the beautiful survivors that are trusting us with their story.
