The Power of ONE

The recent war in Ukraine highlighted one little girl, named Amelia who was taking shelter underground in a bunker with her family and neighbors. Hiding, with fear from the turmoil crashing down around them, not knowing if they would survive, Amelia stood on a chair and bravely began to sing “Let It Go.” The entire bunker fell silent as she became a beacon of Hope and bringing a moment of PEACE.  Her voice became the ambassador of resilience for those crowded around her and then it extended to the entire world.

Amelia’s crystal-clear voice tells us that in the middle of darkness, we can find PEACE.

Peace is a feeling deep inside of us that has the possibility to bring us to a place of calm and security. It’s the light that shines in the darkness, and that darkness can never be extinguished because light and darkness cannot exist together.  Darkness is deafening. Light bursts through to release us from the chains and control that have kept us bound in our own bunker too afraid to emerge to our incredible potential. I believe that Peace, is the light that is found in knowing God.

Peace is not the absence of storms and struggles. Peace is what allows us to boldly navigate them.

Amelia shows us that it only takes ONE to speak or sing or acknowledge a situation and shed light on it. No matter how horrible, we are called to be the light and illuminate a way for others to get out of the dark and experience true PEACE.  One tiny light in the middle of darkness can shatter fear, anxiety and a sense of hopelessness.

One brave warrior can extend their strength and light to someone who needs to know that there is a God in Heaven who loves them, believes in them, and is extending peace into their life.

Who are you today?  Are you huddled in a dark bunker of fear and turmoil? Or would you consider being the ONE, and peacefully encourage someone to “let it go”, even for a moment until it becomes a tangible reality.

The impact of standing in darkness with the light you have and extending it to the survivors we serve, to our community, and to the world, just might radically change everything for someone’s life trajectory.

Embracing PEACE that transcends our understanding can shift atmospheres around you, your family and I truly believe will impact our world.  Our world is craving peace. They need someone who will begin to sing in the darkness to see a place of peace and safety. We cannot allow darkness to win.

Today I am asking you to be the gift of PEACE. To stand for those who are fighting every day for their safety and freedom from sexual exploitation and intimate terrorism. To see them, support them, and choose to be the ONE that helps to orchestrate change right here in our own community.

Just like Amelia, one little girl, who bravely starts to sing in a war zone, hiding in an underground bunker for safety, and has now become an ambassador for PEACE, we can also be ambassadors for PEACE, FREEDOM , and be the ONE.
